Born June 14, 1931 in Baileyville, IL, the daughter of Christian J. and Mabel R. (Wubbena) Drake. She got married to Clarence Dale Edwards on November 24, 1951 at Forreston Grove Church; he preceded her in death on May 26, 1999.Delores was a 1949 graduate of Forreston High School. She retired in 1996 from Farm Credit Service after serving as the customer service representative for more than 30 years. Delores was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon. The church was a vital part of her life. She served in many capacities in the women’s organization, altar guild, choir, and various committees.Survived by her daughter, Pamela Sue Edwards of Geneseo; her son, Andrew Dale (Martha) Bowles Edwards of Bettendorf, Iowa; her grandchildren, Alan Bowles Edwards, David Bowles Edwards, and Angela Bowles Edwards; and her sister, Eleanor (Bill) Tucker of Sioux City, Iowa.Also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marlene Palmer.Funeral services will be held at 10:30pm Saturday, March 16 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon, with Pastor Rich Tomlinson, of the church, officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Memorial Park in Dixon. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 - 7:00pm at the church.Memorials in Delores’ name may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Morris, or Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.A special thank you to the physicians and staff at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Charlotte May Brown Joworski - The Ogle County Life

Morris. Born May 4, 1920 on the Price Farm, south of Mt. Morris in Pine Creek Township, the fourth and last child to Elmer Walton and Ruth Marie Brown.Her parents, Elmer and Ruth, and her three older siblings moved from Frederick, Maryland to Illinois in 1917, farming first on the Price Farm in Mt. Morris, then on the Bacon Farm off Pines Road near Oregon. During the summers, relatives from out east would come to stay with the family in Illinois. Charlotte studied piano as a young girl and was a member of the Oregon United Methodist Church. In May of 1933, she and Donald Reed were crowned May King and Queen of the sixth grade. Her mother crafted a dress from crepe paper. She attended the 1933 World's Fair with her father, driving from Oregon to Chicago.She attended country school and graduated from Oregon High School in 1938, the first class to graduate from the new high school. She attended beauty college in Dixon after high school and was proprietor of her own salon above the National Clothing House in Oregon in the 1940's. She married Stanley Thomas Joworski in 1942 and was married 43 years prior to his passing in 1984. She and Stan had antique shops in Oregon during the 1960's and '70's. They raised seven children together. She was a self-taught artist, painting landscapes, flowers and animals in oils. Charlotte was well-known for her beautiful handmade braided rugs and refinished furniture. She and Stan planted a large garden each spring, canning the produce.Charlotte was very patriotic and loved flying the American flag. She was an election judge in Oregon for over 20 years, working the local elections. She was a member of the La Grange-La Portage Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her ancestral patriot John Wolfe, through her father's lineage, served in the Revolutionary War. Her great grandfather, Augustus Conrad, served in the Civil War.Survived by daughters, Patricia Joworski of Brookfield, Gael (William) Briley of Amherstview, Toronto, Canada and Rebecc...

Rogene L. Poppen - The Ogle County Life

Poppen, age 92, passed away on March 4, 2019 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris. Rogene was born on April 17, 1926 in Adeline, the daughter of Ernest and Rose (Horst) Hartje.Rogene graduated from Forreston High School class of 1944, and she received a bachelor’s degree in organ and piano from Carthage College in 1948. Rogene married Alfred V. Poppen on Sept. 29, 1951 in Forreston; and he preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1988.Rogene was a piano teacher and she was the St. James Lutheran Church organist and choir director retiring in 2015. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Forreston.Rogene is survived by children: Ruth Ann (Kirstie Felland) Poppen, Wheeling, and Douglas (Leslie) Poppen, West Union, Iowa; grandchildren: Marcie (Loran Marceau) Poppen, Melissa (Nathan) Husman, Mindy Poppen, Samuel Poppen, and Lily Poppen; great grandchildren: Sawyer and Keandria Marceau; sister: Leona (Carl) Nelson, Mt. Morris; daughter in law: Marta Poppen, Forreston; niece: Beth (John) Chase, Mt. Morris; nephews: David (Gretchen) Nelson, Mt. Morris, and Rick (Michelle) Nelson, Mt. Morris; and several great nieces and nephews.Rogene is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Alfred; son: Mark.Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Lutheran Church, Forreston, with Rev.
